EVENT RECAP
Message from Ruben Pizarro
Our coding hackathon was an overwhelming success! Dream Academy had almost 250 students attend Harvest Hacks 2019 from throughout the county and it was an educational, competitive, and fun day for all. Our son, Marco, was the visionary behind this event and we’re so incredibly proud of all the work he put into making this event a great experience for so many students.
Our theme was bringing Silicon Valley to the Salinas Valley but throughout the day we were reminded that the Salinas Valley has so much to offer the rest of the state. Our students are second to none and their willingness to learn and their level of innovation is off the charts.
So many had to come together to make this event possible including our team leaders, the volunteer mentors & judges, and all of our amazing sponsors. Special thanks to Ricky Likeke Gebin, Antonio Tijerino Alberto Avalos, Mauricio Rivera, Dr. Romero Jalomo, Superintendent Dan Burns, Assistant Superintendent Blanca Baltazar-Sabbah, Mayor Joe Gunter, Congressman Jimmy Panetta, and our keynote speaker Diana Marquez De La Torre from Google. Truly a collaborative effort for the good of our youth!
